What is FINPEDMED?

FINPEDMED (Finnish Investigators Network for Pediatric Medical Research) is a national network of pediatric clinical trials founded in 2007. A network of researchers consisting of pediatricians and other experts is the common structure of five university hospitals in Finland.

The goal of FINPEDMED is to promote the health of Finnish children, by increasing the research and development of new and safe treatments, avoiding unnecessary studies of children. FINPEDMED is a non-profit, non-legal and independent service model that aims to promote both researcher-driven and industry-sponsored clinical trials in Finland.

FINPEDMED’s main tasks:
  • Provision of expert services
  • Improving research conditions for clinical trials
  • Safe conduct of clinical trials
  • Supporting academic research
  • Provision of continuing education
  • Harmonizing national common operating models
  • Creating recommendations and model-document templates to serve research
  • Promoting Nordic and international networking and research cooperation
  • Informing stakeholders; hospitals, universities, the pharmaceutical industry, authorities, paediatric specialist associations and national patient organizations
